North American Cold Spray 2013

Good news! The North American Cold Spray Conference (NACSC) has been rescheduled!

New Dates and Location:
The North American Cold Spray Conference (NACSC) will take place April 3rd-4th 2013 as a co-location with the AeroMat 2013 Conference and Exhibition in Bellevue, Washington at the Meydenbauer Center.

This Conference will feature invited talks by cold spray experts from around the world who will share their knowledge and experience about this exciting spray coating technology. North American Cold Spray 2013 is the ideal forum for researchers, technicians, manufacturers and end-users to review recent advances, current needs and future challenges in cold spray.

Compostos solúveis em superfícies a serem pintadas.

Soluble compounds on surfaces to be painted

Introduction
The presence of soluble compounds in a surface that will be painted can interfere with the performance of coat or paint system.
The interference depends on the amount and type of contaminant.
The most common are the salts.
The most critical environments are those industrial, where there are large number of factories that emit polluting gases in the atmosphere like SO2 and the maritime where there is presence of salt spray intense.

Galvanic Corrosion Prevention Coatings

Galvanic corrosion resistant coatings are applied to protect materials such iron and steel alloys against corrosion.
The coatings act as sacrificial coatings and they will corrode preferentially slowly while minimizing the corrosion occurring to the steel due the electrode potential difference between these metals.
For example, Thermal Spray Zinc (called TSZ) will protect carbon steel .
Dissimilar metals and alloys have different electrode potentials and when   into contact in an electrolyte a galvanic solution (sea water), one metal acting as anode and the other as cathode.
The potential difference between the dissimilar metals or alloys is the driving force to accelerate the corrosion attack on the anode member of the galvanic couple.
Thermal spray coating process, has been used on many components to work in sea water (SEAWATER is generally considered to be a corrosive environment) including a wide range of structures, such,  bridges, steel tower wind power generation, offshore platform production units and many others.
The technology has been proven to be far more effective corrosion protection than paint systems for providing longer term protection.
